How It Works

Labelflash™ uses an imaging dye layer located 0.6mm below the surface of the non-data side of the Labelflash DVD media.Image of a printed Labelflash discWhen your optical drive's laser beam burns the image in hues of blue directly into the disk, the dye layer responds—and the image you burn is created below the surface. This process improves image durability over printed paper which deteriorated over time due to blemishes, scratches, blurring or browning. And the images, having been burned in by laser rather than printed on paper, are clear and high contrast.

Using the System

Your setup for Labelflash™ couldn't be easier. All you need is a Gateway PC that has an optical drive featuring Labelflash™ technology and then the suitable Labelflash media.

What are the steps to using Labelflash™? They're few—and easy!

  1. Write your data on the recording side of the disk—just as you always do.
  2. Flip over the disk so the labeling side is face down in the DVD drive.
  3. Burn your desired image.

The process is really that quick. No waiting for the ink to dry. No need for a printer.

Labelflash™-Compliant Media

Suitable disks for your label burning are easy to find and Fujifilm, Memorex all produce suitable DVDs. Just be sure the media states it is compliant with Labelflash™.
