The two newest additions to the E-Series family include the Thin & Light E-265M and the notebook designed for Maximum Performance and Mobility, the E-475M.
Designed from the ground up for professional customers, the E-Series notebook line from Gateway® combines IT-friendly features with widescreen displays, enhanced security, leading-edge graphics and more battery life than any previous Gateway® notebook.
Performance
Both notebooks feature the most recent operating software, Windows Vista®, and the latest in high-performance graphics, and they are ideally suited for professions with high-end multimedia requirements. For outstanding video playback and sharp image quality and clarity, customers can configure either system with ATI Mobility™ Radeon™ HD X2300 256MB or 512MB2 PCI Express Graphics or Integrated Intel® GMA X3100 Graphics. They also feature the next generation of dual-core processors, the Intel® Core™2 Duo processor; the Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family; and Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N and Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.
Security
Security concerns are addressed with an optional
UPEK® Biometric Fingerprint Reader
and integrated Smart Card Reader providing secure logins with fewer passwords, and the
GatewayShield™
comprehensive security solution delivers hardware, data and Internet protection.
Gateway® engineers also collaborated with 3M to develop a custom built-to-fit privacy filter that easily slips into inconspicuous tabs around the display, limiting the viewing angle. Not only does the upgraded privacy filter deter prying eyes, it is also seamless, thus eliminating those unsightly plastic tabs.
Lower Total Cost of Ownership
Highly scalable and customizable, the newest E-Series line of professional notebooks from Gateway® allows for ultimate flexibility when configuring systems. From entry-level to high-end performance, these notebooks can be customized to meet varying needs. Plus, the scalable design allows you to optimize performance, weight, battery life and price—because each of our new E-Series notebooks shares the same accessories, such as optional port replicators and batteries. In addition, each also shares certain hardware, like identical motherboards and optical drives—allowing an IT manager to conveniently test and qualify one board and build one image between 14.1” and 15.4” notebooks.
Because the E-265M and E-475M Notebooks share common components, the total cost of ownership can be lowered through simplified parts inventory management and reduced downtime. A single platform image on both notebooks provides consistency and stability, making them ideal for mass deployment throughout your organization.
Durability
When you’re traveling, your notebook can take a beating, so durability is crucial. Designed with a sturdy internal magnesium superstructure, our E-Series notebooks provide additional structural integrity.
Mobility
Gateway® engineers worked closely with Intel’s advanced power management team and as a result were able to fine-tune the systems to perform with more than 10.5 hours of battery life.1
That equates to more than 15% longer battery life than for our previous notebook line.1 Extended battery life is important when you’re on the move, and one of the truly outstanding features of these notebooks is that you are able to easily remove the optical drive and slide in an optional six-cell battery. This gives you the ability to configure your notebook with up to 18 cells of battery power, when using the modular bay battery option. In addition, the optical drive battery is hot-swappable, so you are able to switch your battery without worrying about losing your work during the exchange.
Ideal for mobile professionals, the lightweight E-265M optimizes performance and security. Such great options as a next-generation dual-core processor, Windows Vista® operating system, 14.1-inch widescreen display and multiple wireless connectivity options are unprecedented in a 1.3-inch thin, 5.5-pound Gateway® notebook with extended battery life.3
Designed for maximum performance and mobility, the E-475M is an ideal desktop replacement for the professional that requires a large 15.4-inch widescreen display, enhanced security and the industry’s latest technology in a durable, stable platform with superb battery life.
Wireless reach is expanded with 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi® and options that include 802.11 a/b/g/draft-n and Bluetooth® technology. This level of connectivity combined with long battery life options and the multitasking performance of Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology featuring Intel® Core™2 Duo Processors can dramatically increase your overall productivity.
Plus, turning your wireless on and off is now easier, thanks to the new wireless switch in front of the notebook that allows you to quickly and easily engage or disengage your wireless connectivity.

Internal components are protected by a tough cage that keeps your hard drive safe from drops and bumps, and our newly designed casing is made of matte hard-wearing textured plastic instead of paint, making the surface more resistant to scratches and fingerprint marks. This new casing also features a newly designed snug-fitting lid—preventing paper clips and other small items from working their way between the keyboard and display. Also featured is a high-quality constant torque hinge, providing a steady range of motion when opening and closing the notebook lid.Mobility
