Absolute Garbage
By Ninhalo5 from Hagerstown, Md.

This thing has been nothing but problems since the day I bought it. I took it out of the box for the first time, plugged it all up and loaded up Vista. Lo and behold, Norton pops up, virus detected. Ugh. Then my media control panel on the outside stopped working (plastic is too thin to push on), then my flash card reader stopped working. Then eventually the worthless Seagate hard drive started failing like crazy and burned out. Like everyone else the ATI catalyst pops up an error whenever you restart the comp. To fix that you have to manually uninstall the ATI drivers and download them from ATI. Although I haven't had any problems with the display it's just annoying getting the not compatible popup. Today I lost lost both my external HDD and the extra I put in the front expansion slot. There are so many more issues I've had than what I have listed. CPU runs as fast as a Pentium II laptop. Do yourself a favour and don't waste your money on this. |

Stopped Working

My FX6800-01e was four months old when, overnight one day, it just stopped working - it turned out it was the power supply.... I had no intention of sending the machine back, with its sensitive data and all, so I had the machine repaired locally at my own expense!... |

Not a Good Choice for Upgrading
By Meh from Oregon

I bought one of these beasts a few months ago and found some serious issues with it. The MoBo is an mATX form factor. This computer's upgradeability is crippled by the choice to use an mATX form factor. The MoBo is the TBGM-01. It has 2 PCIe x16 2.0 slots and 1 PCIe x4 slot. The BIOS is locked (big mistake for a gaming rig) and the FSB speed is capped at 1067 MHz when it can do 1333 MHz (other x58 boards can do 1600-2000 MHz easily). This system is sub par when comparing this rig with others of similar technology, but its price isn't bloated like other x58 rigs are. For the price it is hard to beat. It is a great system for anyone that just wants a good gaming rig, but doesn't care what is in it or plan on upgrading it. If you just want a good gaming rig that can get the job done without tinkering with parts then I recommend buying this rig. If you have the time, money, and experience to build your own rig or want to be able to upgrade in time (or immediately) then do not buy this rig. |

Updating Dec. 20 Review

I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit RC. I was amazed to see that my processor scored a 7.4, memory scored 5.9, graphics got a 6.4, gaming graphics got 6.4 and my hdd got a 5.9. This thing is now 6 months old and it is definitely a gaming supercomputer as written on the side of the case. I noticed that the specs still call out only 512 GPU memory, but mine came with a full gig. Best computer I ever bought. |

Good Computer, But Not Without Issues

Decent computer. I like the RAM, processor and pop-up parts of the case (especially the card readers). Video card had issues right out of the box; there are days I can't even turn my computer on and either use the video card/have my computer on reliably, or be out of safemode. You can build your own computer cheaper, but won't get as functional a case. If the video card didn't break on me, I'd recommend it to a friend. Also, the orange is ugly. My rival university's colors are black and orange, so it's a little awkward. Would have preferred a blue and black case instead to match my mouse. |

Missing From Specs

The Gateway FX6800 has several good features such as memory and video card. However, I needed more HD space and purchased a 1.5 TB HD. Installed it and set it up as the primary drive. System will not boot. After two days found out only a 1 TB can be used. Next tried to use Labelflash but it would not work. Called the overseas Indian customer support who informed me Labelflash can work only on Fuji or Memorex Lightscribe disks, nothing else. Now I have to settle for smaller HD and purchase a Lightscribe burner. If I had not passed the 30-day return, it would have been sent back. |

Good, Better, Best Bang for the Buck

After waaaaay too much research and comparison shopping I finally decided to by my 2nd Gateway machine (1st was back in the '90s). I've had and built a dozen blazers in between, and I know the landscape more than fairly well. After 4 days of tweaking, installing and upgrading, I'm extremely happy with the FX6800-01e's performance, and more so with the price tag. It was easy to pop in an additional 9GB RAM, a few portable hard drives and just watch it tear up every app I throw at it. Warning: 1) The bios is locked so you can't overclock the very 'tune friendly' i7 processor. 2) Make sure you won't need to add much in the way of expansion cards; you'll barely get anything in the cramped solo pci slot available. Bottom line, for under a grand out the door and 1,200 jacked up nicely, you couldn't build a better mousetrap for the money unless you stole it. |

The Good, The Bad and The Advice

Pros: Realtek Surround Sound. Free PCI slot. 450w power supply. Empty RAM expansion slots.
Cons: Locked BIOS=Can't Overclock=Can't run RAM any faster than 10600MHz no matter what speed RAM you buy even though the i7's infrastructure will support RAM all the way up to 18000mhz and 20000mhz=Can't run processor any faster than 2.67GHz even though i7 is easily overclocked up to 3.3GHz and even all the way up to 3.8GHz with extra cooling, and is the most popular processor among overclockers because of its noted flexibility. But the BIOS is locked and therefore so is the processor speed.
3dMarkVantage ranked mine 109 of 109 when compared to 109 computers with similar hardware configurations, and gave it a raw score of p10,700.

Expansion Issues

The FX6800-01e sounded like a good buy but the onboard sound was not compatible with my edit software and to put in a new sound card was almost impossible due to the closeness of the sockets and the fact the video card takes covers two sockets. To upgrade to 12gig was easy and adding a second 1.5tb drive simple - I also LOVE the idea of being able to have removable drives for backup and additional storage as needed - the system becomes a 4.5tb powerhouse.

"I am happy, very happy to buy this PC. I have upgraded from a Gateway GX7022e model which came with a Pentium D 3.0 Ghz, first dual-core processor, (maybe Inrel's first), 1GB of DDR2 memory ram and upgraded that with an ATI X1650 512MB Pro graphic card. It ran 2 accounts of city of heros barely with much lag depending on the population.
HOWEVER!!! This PC, the FX6800-01e model is superb, EXTREMELY SUPERB, I am LOVING IT. Not only it runs 3 accounts on CoH smoothly, it does it with NO LAG, NO HEAT BURSTING from it and I haven't even upgraded it yet. I plan to swap the PSU with another PSU with 700 to 850 watt supply, and grab maybe 6GB or 9GB of additional DDR3 RAM. I love my GX7022e model for it has NEVER been disloyal but ths NEW FX6800-01e model has buried the other in it's BOX. THANK YOU GATEWAY, this PC IS SUPER FAST and ULTRA QUIET annndd it does not heat up my bedroom. "

The only problem I had was the mouse that came with it, if you buy this PC get anther mouse and your all set. |

I like this Computer, very fast. I was looking at the motherboard and notice it has an 8 way power plug on the mother board besides the 24 pinned one but it only has a 4 way pluged into it. Anyone know if it could or should us an 8 way if your going to up grade the video card to to an Nvidia 295? the one thing I di not like abbout tis computer was that it had no and II mean no info about it in the box ,just the computer and a plastic bag that ws all. Enjoy it is fast 5.9 on all the preformance rateings. |

Very Intellegent Design
By Mr. Satisfied from Honolulu, HI

The i7 is amazing, it elevates every aspect of windows vista to a much more tolerable and pleasant experience. Shortly after purchase, I decided to upgrade this baby and let me tell you, it was EASY, much more pleasant than several models I have owned from HP. 12gb of DDR3 ram, 750 w. power supply (much quieter, btw), and a blu-ray drive later, I'm in computer heaven. The chassis is not only attractive, but highly functional as well. I really don't think I could have made a wiser investment. As a minor precaution, the first model I purchased didn't boot up at all, however it was easily exchanged at Best Buy. I HIGHLY recommend with a 24in Gateway screen, they are gorgeous together (Gateway makes awesome displays). Overall I'm ecstatic with my new supercomputer, and my experience with the Gateway brand, for that matter... I sincerely endorse this capable, modern and stylish PC. |

Great Performance For A Great Price
By Gamer from Missouri

Was searching for a computer for a couple weeks on Newegg and Tigerdirect. Found this one on Tigerdirect as a refurbished computer for 899.99. I priced all the components on Newegg and Tigerdirect and couldn't beat the price building it myself. I haven't had any problems yet except for installing the BIOS update that wouldn't take. Got in contact with Tech Support, the the Tech guy actually asked me why I would want to update the BIOS. Seriously. So far that is the only complaint I have. Put 6 more gigs of Ram in this thing and it is a smoker. Ran Crysis, Warhammer 40k 2, TF2, WoW, and CoH: Tales of Valor at the highest settings and it kills those games. Great machine and it leaves room to upgrade later on. |

This computer has very nice hardware and performance. But wireless internet does NOT come standard. We tried to put a wireless N card into the computer. Then we noticed that the computer does NOT come with an PCI expansion slot. So we paid 1100 bucks for a computer with no wireless N capability. Now I have to head back to the store to try and find a way to connect our new computer (other than LAN) to the internet. |

WORD OF WARNING TO PEOPLE UPGRADING MEMORY...!!!! Sorry for yelling but it's kinda important. The memory this machine supports is supposed to be the 1066MHz DDR3 PC3-8500 and with it being Triple Channel, the 3GB it comes with are three 1GB modules. I went to Newegg.com and ordered 6 more GB of that memory. AFter installing I noticed that when I pushed the system close to it's limits, I'd get intermittent burps, hiccups, and once in a while the BSOD and a crash. Turns out that Gateway put in the PC3-10700 DDR3 modules which natively runs the DRAM frequency at 667MHz or in other words, 1333 MHz instead of 1066 MHz. Of course it's backwards compatible and it kicks down the speed to match the 1066MHz spec, but the timings are JUST different enough. After pulling it and getting the PC3-10700 1333MHz memory, to match up the modules already in there, I've been trying to crash it again. It's been running GREAT since. Not a burp since. I also got the 1Gb Radeon, not 512. Cool. |

Nice Machine but.....

I bought this rig at Best Buy two months ago. After two weeks the power supply unit (PSU) crashed. Took it to Best Buy and they replaced the PSU with an upgraded 550 Watt PSU at no extra cost (plus the PSU upgrade is a name brand unlike the PSU that came with the FX 6800). Nice of them! The machine has been running nicely ever since. I was able to play Crysis on the rig using one of my flat panel Sony XBRs (32") at 1700 X 1000 resolution with everything at high, however when I got onto the aircraft carrier (near the end of the game), the 4850 graphics card could not handle the overwhelming amount of processing Crysis required of the ATI 4850. So, I lowered the resolution to 1280 X 720 with everything set to low and was able to finish the game. To fix this, I bought 5 gigs of DDR3 RAM hoping it will fix the Crysis problem. I'm hoping I can finish Crysis on high instead of low. Also, I plan to upgrade the PSU to 800 Watts and add another 4850 video card. |

Good for the money

i7 processor with 4 cores clocked at 2.67GHz each and each running 2 threads makes this thing a beast and tears through Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Source SDK like a hot knife through butter. 3GB of RAM is more then enough to run Vista and any games and most applications on the market, but it would be nice to have 6GB instead of 3GB for multitasking. The GPU is sub par considering what is available right now, but it holds it's own. As it is right now most mainstream applications and games have been updated to be able to run on 64-Bit systems and the problems that plagued Vista when it was first released have been taken care of with SP1. Overall the only things i would find worth upgrading on this system right now would be the GPU and the RAM. The system is great as is and only should be upgraded right now by people who have the money and want the best of the best. It would be nice if the media control panel on the tower was compatible with iTunes. |

Nice for the Price
BONGO(OT) from Manassas, VA

I've owned this computer for 4 months now. It's very fast and very quiet. The processor and graphics card are capable of exceeding all most all people's needs, except hard core gamers. Very nice looks. Vista 64 bit works great and shouldnt be feared but still check for 64 bit drivers for your peripherals. On the downside, the power supply is barely adequate (I upgraded to a 800 watt silverstone). The 3mb memory is sufficient for most people's needs (I upgraded with 6mb additional memory). The speakers and keyboard are of poor quality and most people will want to upgrade. Even though I made all these upgrades within days of purchase; I'd still recommend this PC, it is very fast. One other con is the proprietary MB which allows no adjustments. Gateway made that decision for you unfortunately. Still, kudos to Gateway, a nice computer |

Good computer
By SacrificialSoul

If you plan on upgrading this computer right out of the box, it is a bit tricky. The 4850 used in the computer is a discontinued Sapphire model, so finding the exact match on a card is hard. I replaced it with two Visiontek 4850s. Plan on having no other cards installed with a crossfire system, as there isn't room. Also, the PSU must be upgraded to run two cards (minimum 650W dual rail). The system stays fairly cool, and there is room to add a second fan in the front of the case. It is definitely an expandable computer, but cramped. The only downside to this computer, and the reason for the 4 stars, is that the BIOS is terrible. Overclocking via the BIOS is NOT an option as it has been locked out. This also causes problems for ATI overdrive (though RivaTuner and ATT work fine). Overall, a good computer, but you can custom build one very similar for just as cheap once all upgrades are included. More fan options would have been nice (like one on the side panel). |

BSODs are way too frequent By Comp Technician from Rapid City, SD March 24, 2009 |
I'll admit this computer is capable of so much. If only I was one of the lucky many that had zero problems from the get go. I have a couple questions. What is the recommended specs for this computer to run with no issues? How much RAM do I need, what wattage should my power supply be at? Why does it seem like my processor is locking up causing a system interrupt? Do I need a different much more recommended motherboard? There are people with the same problems as I. Only difference is, I'm not sending it in. I will put the parts in myself. I'm a computer technician, it's what I do. I may be just out of training, but I know how much trouble technical support can be. This computer is awesome with what I can get out of it. It'll be even more awesome when I get it fixed. |

I thought it was supposed to be good? By Soiders from Albuquerque, NM March 17, 2009 |
I got this computer on 3/10 and two days later on 3/12 it crashed and burned on me. Tech support was good and honest with me when they told me the mother board had fried. Since the computer was brand new Best Buy took it back in exchange for another one. I'm almost scared to use my new one for fear of it frying as well. |

Nice PC By bongo(ot) from Manassas, VA March 16, 2009 |
Nice PC, fast and quiet. The freeware if not wanted uninstalls easily. The 3gb of RAM should be upgraded, and the PS struggles slightly but is sufficient if you don't push your PC. Motherboard is proprietary, so BIOS tweaks are not possible, gamers beware. Speakers and keyboard are junk if you are a gamer, otherwise they suffice. All that said, I still rate it 4 stars because its fast and quiet. I have upgraded to a GTX 280, 9 GB RAM and a Silverstone 800 watt power supply. These upgrades are very easily made. G15 keyboard and a Razer Copperhead and I'm ready to do some killing. |

Not happy for sure By NCarolina from NC March 10, 2009 |
The promise to multi-task is just not happening. The system freezes regularly once you have three programs up and running together. AND... there are time you need to cut/paste or fix/update from program to program. It has given me "low on memory" warnings more than once. I have not upgraded...now should I just to do the basic work I am assigned. |

fx-6800-01 By gracedone from Florida March 10, 2009 |
Bought this from Bestbuy and had to return for jumpy cursor in explorer. 2nd unit did the same at home and when I brought that back found the display unit(third one) all had "indicator blue ring" around cursor in windows explorer while using about 10% cpu. Knew this was a software conflict but bestbuy wanted to fix so I said go for it and after two weeks later after sending to central service, returned unit with new harddrive. The geeks at bestbuy reloaded software and bam nothing has changed. I did some disabling of sound drivers and cured the problem as others have done from reading the comments. Otherwise love the system but does need upgrade on psu. |

Bad Bad Machine By BGrizzle February 9, 2009 |
I love this PC. I can dual screen any movie while playing any game and not even lag at all. I am only using 3gb out of the potential 16gb. I have ordered the ati 4850 card to cross over as well as ordered the 24" gateway flat. Now all you have to do is wait for the industry to catch up so that we can start getting DDR3 Ram deals. Cant wait to see what the dual video cards are going to do!Head to toe the best PC on the market under $2000 Some other Brands go for the futuristic "martian" look with old school results, This one is all Go and a heck allot of show too. Soon games might even have to have gateway servers cause were too fast for everyone else. I like this PC so much I wrote two reviews after my first one, I went off on a anti-industry tangent. Wow, they even have Class to not point out how they rule. This is not your fathers Gateway, they have officially started their rule at the top, and the complete domination of the industry. |

Best bang for the buck. By CrossfireX January 31, 2009 |
I was searching around for a computer for several months, I was down to the old Gateway FX and the Dell XPS630. Well I went out late on black Friday after everyone was all shopped out and hit up Best Buy. There was one of these sitting in a corner none of them on display.
Pros: i7:920 newest processor DDR3 newest ram available Radeon 4850(mine came with 512 not 1gb like people are saying) Extra PCI-E x16 slot Cons: 3GB's of ram 500W PSU.
Well my gateway FX is currently running a 730W PSU, 6GBs of ram, 2 Radeon 4850's and obviously the i7. I couldn't be happier I can run crysis ~45 FPS on high with this machine. I have about 1800 invested including all the new parts and the 3 year bestbuy warranty. I normally build my own PC's but there is no need when you can buy prebuilt machines that are this powerful. Strongly recommended for gamers on a budget. |

Wow No. 1 By Kaydan from Salina, Kansas January 29, 2009 |
My wife and I purchased the Gateway FX6800-01e at Best Buy on Jan. 2, 2009. Wow, what a fast machine! Right from the get go, we made the Recovery Disks and the Drivers and Applications Backup. All our software loaded on with no trouble at all. We later discovered a slight glitch while navigating Microsoft Windows Explorer. The mouse cursor continuously "flashed" with the Vista lite blue circle running behind it. This was my clue that something was running nonstop. The problem was later found to be something with the Realteck High Definition Audio Driver. Once uninstalled, and reinstalled, the glitch was solved. The Intel i7 Quad with the 3 GB of Dual Channel DDR3 memory is lightning fast for Applications and the Games we play. We will be upgrading with 3 more GB of memory. Great PC, Gateway! We liked it so well we bought a LX-6801 for a second home computer! |

Great Gateway PC Buy By Kaydan from Salina, KS January 24, 2009 |
I purchased the Gateway FX6800-01e 4 weeks ago. Got it home and set up with no major problems at all. FIRST THING TO DO is MAKE Recovery Disks of OS as well as Drivers and Applications. One little glitch with the "Flashing Mouse Cursor" while navigating in Microsoft Windows Explorer. Uninstall the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and reinstall from the Driver & Application Disk you created for Recovery above. The glitch was solved for me. (Got no help with this from Gateway online chat) Had to figure the problem on own. Very nice PC and it is lightning FAST. I do very little gaming, but run a lot of applications like Office, Adobe, and AutoCAD. Well worth the price and would highly recommend it to anyone. Gamers will have to write their own rating. Great Job on this to Gateway! |

GAMERS READ THIS REVIEW!! By JohnK from Arizona January 15, 2009 |
Great Game Machine. WOW, Various FPS, et al. look great on this machine and run well. Couple notes: 1) If you play Warcraft, make sure you patch the video card asap, there is a graphics bug (due to the dynamic shadows in WOTLK) that is fixed by ATI (there support is very good). 2) If you want to Crossfire this, its simple and easy. However, it is quite possible to overload the power supply, you may want to consider upgrading but they are not too expensive. 3) RAM - Geeks will tell you it doesnt have enough, I ve never gone over 70% RAM usage with the native OS (64 bit Windows) running, 1 game, IE and Vent. If you want to run 3 FPS at the same time you may need more. Ultimately, get the machine for the base components the RAM is cheap to upgrade ($ 68 / 2G of 1066 DDR3 @ Kingston).
Make sure you get a widescreen to do this justice
Overall, very happy with this machine, would recommend, hard to find equal value. |

Fantastic Machine By Larry from Alabama January 11, 2009 |
I thought I was stepping down from my crashed Vigor Gaming Extreme rig with all the goodies. No, I did not. This rig right out of the box beat my $4000 dedicated game machine. I still cannot believe it. Fantastic with the games. Power to spare at 1/3 the price. I LOVE IT. |

Great By Warzhell08 from New Bedford,MA January 10, 2009 |
Bought this to replace my Gateway GT5220 (AMD Athlon64 3800, 4GB ram,320HD,ATI Radeon hd2400 pro) that I had upgraded to run Vista but was not powerful enough for my games.
Its grate! I can run Fedora10 and gOS in a Virtual Box and Vista at the same time surf the web and its only using 1 to 5 % CPU usage. Plays warmonger, bio shock, and other games no problem.
The refreshing bug is solved by disabling the hdmi sound driver, so I have no complaints
Had it for a month now. One thing, I wish it came with more ram for the price 3Gb is low now a days. |

Great experience By Hughesvilleone from Hughesville, MD December 31, 2008 |
Right out of the box this system was great. Runs very quiet and very fast! Instructions were easy to follow and I had no problems powering it up. I had considered several other manufacturers but went with this after reading its review in the January 2009 issue of Computer Shopper. For the price, you can't beat its features, power and performance. |

Rebooting in minnesota By Kaeotic from Minnesota December 27, 2008 |
At first the system seemed great running everything great. Then the problems- BSOD, the system in idle pulls up to 8% processor power, small power supply, and swap drives up front did nothing but crash the system. After a few reboot sessions with gateway support who was great btw it still had the same issues. Its now on its way to be "fixed" and all im left with is my fingers crossed that I didnt just waste 1250 :-/
On the positive side the 4850 and the i7 are great and will be going crossfire with a 850w power supply and 3 more gigs of ram once it returns. I envy those whos systems ran great and feel for those who got a lemon. I only recommend this with hopes that the system runs as it should and not all buggy. |

High Intensity Gaming Bliss By Jeffro from Belleville, MI December 20, 2008 |
Just bought mine from Best Buy 1 week ago. Mine came with Intel Core i7 920 @2.67GHz 3 Gigs of DDR3 1066GHz Tri-Channel memory upgradable to 16Gigs, Ati Radeon HD 4850 w/ 1 Gig of DDR3 memory on PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (even though the box only listed 512 mb of DDR3 on memory card) 750GB ATA SATA II 7200 rpm hard drive, and integrated Sound Blaster X-Fi MB 7.1 surround sound and pre installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit.(again sound blaster not mentioned on box) I also chipped in and bought the Gateway FHD 2401 24"HD Display which looks amazing at 1920x1200 resolution. My Windows experience rating is a 5.9 in every category, simply amazing! I am running Crysis at full graphic capability with no problems and it looks great! I plan on adding 1 more Ati Radeon HD 4850 to run in CrossfireX mode but it looks like I will also need to upgrade my power supply as the supplied 500watt power supply may not be sufficient. |
|

I can't believe it. By BlueMoon from Albuquerque, NM December 15, 2008 |
The case was pretty cool, has everything in the front where you need it, so you're not constantly trying to plug stuff in the back and it has swappable drives! just like a server, that's really cool.
Opened the case, found a 400W PSU. Not only was the core i7 ridiculously under powered, but the PSU was OLD. Meaning there was only a 4 pin CPU connector, when there should have been 8.
Now, take into consideration the video card, which wasn't anything special, an ATI Radeon 4350??? Not even a 4870 or even a 9800GT. Do yourself a favor and buy a brand new 700W Power Supply so you can see what the Core i7 was made for. |

Great PC for the price By P51D from Los Angeles December 12, 2008 |
After a year wanting to upgrade my simulator PC. Shopping all over the place. Best Buy and Gateway won, This is the best PC for the price on the market today. It is being used for FSX only. With all of the options set to max. FSX has becomes more realistic. No more waiting for screen updates of MegaScenery. Smooth Takeoff and Landings.
Out of the box to flying no problems at all. Good job Gateway.

Impressed... By MrDJ from Palm Springs, CA December 12, 2008 |
Case has slick modern look. System runs quick, cool, quiet. Keyboard, mouse, speakers need upgrading.
Pros:
-i7-920 QCP w/ turbo -3 GB DDR3 RAM ~ upgradeable to 16 GB -15 in 1 media center -7.1 surround sound output -ATI HD 4850 graphics card
Cons:
-Keyboard is awkward to use and didn't include pictured wrist support -Speakers are small w/ poor sound quality -Mouse response is sluggish -Top mounted media panel is hard to open and close
Installing programs/transferring files is a quick process and there's no lag during gaming. 'Call of Duty: WaW' requires a high-end system and that game plays great on this one - which has been designed for 'next generation' gaming! Unfortunately, since I still need a system for more than just gaming, due to Vista 64 incompatibility w/ some older games/programs (which work fine on XP); I'm now forced to run two machines (switched) side-by-side in order to have everything remain copacetic and functional. |

Good for your money By zfactor from Chicago, IL December 10, 2008 |
Overall very good.
Pros -i7 processor -Upgradeability (6 slots for ram!) -7.1 surround sound output -ATI HD 4850 is a good graphics card -750 GB hard drive -Grate on the side lets me mount a fan for even better cooling effects -HUGE CPU heatsink (biggest one I ever saw...)
Cons -Keyboard is slightly akward -Comes with two small speakers -Had to download new ATI program to change fan speed -Some compatability issues with older games (but that is expected for Vista) -Mouse sometimes behaves erraticly
Best computer for your money out there now. I bought some 5.1 surround sound speakers and they work with every game. Loading times are drastically reduced. |

Good Value For The Price, But Missing Some Things By Slopes0213 from Westport, MA December 7, 2008 |
This is my first Gateway PC. I've built my own for 18 years. I'm VERY SATISFIED overall with this machine.
PROS: 1. Looks nice 2. Runs quiet 3. Windows Vista scores of 5.9 in all areas RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX 4. Not too much bloatware/trialware garbage to clean out 5. Good sized hard drive 6. Runs every game well that I've thrown at it so far (Crysis, FarCry II, Left 4 Dead, etc)
CONS AND SUMMARY My biggest issue was that according to the STANDARD configuration on this site there are supposed to be 10 USB ports with 4 being at the front of the machine. There are only two at the front. That effects me. The multimedia panel does have a lot of wasted space and sure could have used the two other USB ports at the very least.
Great bang for the buck |

Very Good By JimmyRock from Denver, Co December 2, 2008 |
Purchased one at Best Buy, I was very surprised at the size. I thought for sure it would easily fit a Nvidia S260 in the slot replacing the ATI 4850. It did not, lucky for me the mother board has 2. I used the one on the bottom, but I won't be able to bridge another. I ran windows Vista test score and got a score 5.9. MAX
I play FEAR an Crysis fully maxed out with no problems or heating up and it is very quite too. For the price it's a steal. Way to go Gateway. |

Some Things Are Missing By Views from California December 2, 2008 |
Much faster and more current than my old P-4 2800. Price seems fair.
I did find some problems.
Hardware issues: (Documentation indicates the missing features should be present)
1. no eSATA connection on front 2. no RCA inputs on "multimedia front panel" 3. no USB connections on "multimedia front panel" 4. back audio input features are confusing
Software issues:
1. Drop down "Look in" list would not work in MS Works or any 32bit Software 2. Mouse extremely erratic in "Explorer" window 3. Resolved 1 & 2 by turning off "Shell Hardware Detection" service. 4. No "Auto Play" features because of 3.
Display computer at Best Buy had all the same problems, when I went back to compare my system.

BEST PC from BestBuy By Tibia November 23, 2008 |
GREAT computer only thing i din't really like is that it din't came with a good mouse, keyboard and enought memory ram it only came with 3 GB of memory ram (DDR3)... But it's a great pc any way... about the 2.66 cpu speed i was reading a review that says that the intel i7 overcloacks its self... PLUS it acts like a 8 CORE.... |

Great PC By MdGeiStar from S.D. ,CA November 20, 2008 |
Got display PC from Best Buy worked great from day one. Only issues i have had are the 2.66 processor and slight lack of memmory(just for games). Both of these factors are completley upgradeable. Very solid performance. Will seek aftermarket (BFG) gpu as well. |
