This is my first new laptop. I had a second-hand laptop which was giving me a problem so I sold it. I wanted to buy a latest laptop and this model has satisfied my needs. I like the amaiing keyboard. I can sit anywhere in the dark and chat to my friends anywhere in the world. It's also got a goooood memory—I can save as many things as I want. so if u are going to buy something valuable, latest, reasonable price, gooooood, then this is the one which u can go for. |

Great machine as hardware. Typical Gateway. Pros: Nice perf, great keyboard, nice illuminated system, easy. setup. Cons: Trial [software] and have to pay additional after trial. Should be part of initial price. Tried 5 times to burn disks for recovery system--impossible.... Overall: Good machine and great deal for the price. |

Good Laptop

Have 500gig hard drive and 4 gig memory. 1/2 Vista and 1/2 Novell Suse Enterprise 11.0. It works better with Linux Enterprise, much faster than with MS Vista. Everything set up very fast, including all networks at the office. A good little workhorse. |

I got this laptop to watch videos…. It's great! the lighted keyboard is great when my wife is sleeping! The only downside is that my spacebar kinda sticks down, but that's my bad! |

Disappointed

I have previously owned a T7 tablet from Gateway and loved it. It fell and the rest is history. I purchased this MC7833u as I was blown away at the bang for the buck and I love Gateway. Have owned many throughout the years. My complaint is when the unit starts up with the wireless on my keyboard and touchpad freeze. So every time on startup I have to disable the wireless to get my unit to work efficiently. I have yet to have the issue resolved and to make matters worse I am an international customer so support is basically nil. This is the disappointing part. I would love to have my unit functioning fully so I could enjoy all it can be. I use mine for work and it is all that was promised. Would have liked to give it the 5 star rating it deserves but.... Maybe I would write another review if and when I get this issue resolved. It's not my fault that Gateway has no agents where I live but I am loyal to Gateway and their notebooks. |

Worst Purchase Ever (Six Months of Junk)

I thought long and hard before I bought this laptop; what sold me was the lighted keyboard and the brighter screen. The keys stuck, a few broke, the sound was not great. Sent it back to be fixed. Cost me $56.00 to send it. I got it back, the piece around the keyboard was no longer flush in 2 corners and now had scratches, some of the keys still stuck (they replaced the keyboard with another defective one), the wireless hardly ever connects with several other computers here--it is not the Internet. The plug-in for earphones has static. Tried many different earplugs (it was not the earplugs but the hole that they plug into). Now I have to send the whole thing back again to be fixed and was told that all my work information will be wiped out, plus the time it will be gone.... |

Bought it a few weeks ago and it keeps stunning me. :D The only negative is that I keep pressing the multimedia controls when I type...but that must be able to disable. |

I just got the MC Series with the 320GB hard drive. The battery life is not more than three hours and dies away pretty quickly but that is the same for most laptops. The laptop is a little bulky. The only other issue is that it's not as fast in loading. |

I got this laptop for my birthday, I originally wanted a macbook but they were too expensive. However I am glad I got this one instead because the price was reasonable, it works, flawlessly! the keyboard is amazing I love it! I love the 320 hard drive, I don't know if I could fill it up if I tried! It is kinda big, but that doesn't matter to me its really big for movies, and I'm not walking around with it so I don't care how big it is. overall its great i would recommend it to anyone. |

I have had lots of computers over the years, and I have to say I am very pleased with my new laptop. This Gateway is awesome, I love that the keys light up, it's memory and harddrive are huge, bigger than my desktop! Easy access with the side button tools, just an all around cool pc. Thanks Gateway for such a cool notebook I love it. |

I am a mobile DJ, and I run all my music off this laptop. What sold me was the lighted keyboard, because many of my outdoor events run into the late night hours, and most clubs are pretty dark. The screen is amazing, because I can see everything without squinting. The 500 GB hard drive gives me more than enough room for my music, I actually store my music in iTunes, and duplicate everything in Windows Media Center. This way I can choose which media player I want, and not worry about wasting valuable hard drive space. Audio is high definition, although I still use a high quality USB plug in sound card for 5.1 surround. It gives my music a much richer sound. Lightning speed, and everyone who see's it thinks it's the coolest laptop ever. Buy it, you won't be disappointed |

i was first time computer buyer and everyone told e to steer clear off gate way now all my friends are gettin one. it ot performs all the other name brands and is more stylish then any other out there the illuminated keys are a must have believe it or not! |

i got this after my first computer melted. it had a bad battery and my earplug ports didnt and the usb ports recognized once only. however this is not a big problem, what really impressed me is when my computer fell of my desk. i was freaked out that it was dead and when i plugged it back in it was fine. the plexy glass cover was cracked bad but the screen survived. this computer is perfect for a first computer because it will survive extreme abuse. it is worth the money. |

The claims of the upgraded video Intel 4500 graphics accelerator are off. This is minimal at best. May play videos fine but for work you need to upgrade to a better video card. Will not do intense graphics such as drawing or even gaming. Claims that Vista Areo will run well are false. If it does don't plan on doing anything else. Laptop looks good, slick, backlit keys, but poor graphics quality |

Bought this model to replace my other computer. I have been very pleased with this one, very pleased.. It's a bigger (size) computer than my other one, but I like the bigger screen because my aging eyes can read it better. Edges don't get cut off of pages. I really appreciate the fact that you can easily control the brightness of the screen with a touch of the keyboard. A HUGE bonus is that the keyboard is lighted making it SO much easier to work, and, most especially, in a darkened area (airplane etal). This is an outstanding feature. To go on, the controls for many other features, including sound off/on and volume, camera, music, picutres etc., are just at your finger tips, to the side of the keyboard. They, too, are lighted. This computers ease of use is one this baby boomer really appreciates.

I know from a previous review the guy said the sound was not what he expected, well it was more then I expected. The sound could easily be mistaken as a desktop computer to me (if it wasnt for the whole laptop look), but also the notebook runs so fast it just eats away at the programs, honestly if you want more for your bucks this computer is the best to do that with. Only problem is the keyboard is always lit, and I thought it dimmed when in lie bright light to save energy, but thats not really the case it just stays bright always.
I still have yeat to use it for gaming, but with how it flys through applications like a maniac, no way this thing will not give me, but good quality for online gaming experience.

This laptop is packed with all the features I wanted at the best value for me. I shopped around and could not find enough goodies for the money until I found this one. The lighted keyboard is not only practical and easy to see but it is totally cool looking. The wide screen is crystal clear and amazing because the screen goes from edge to edge -- I can see the print very well and I wear bifocals. Processor is super fast. Webcam is really easy to use and also excellent quality picture. To find something that really works and looks so sleek and cool at the same time equals money well spent for me. My college age child pronounced this laptop "awesome" so I know I made the right choice.

Great Pc

I got this computer a few days ago and it is great. Its sleek look and size is perfect for anywhere, school, work, or home. It is easy to use and the keyboard lights up so that makes it easier to type in the dark. Its only problem is that the speakers are not as good as I expected and that was a disapointment. Overall it is a really great buy and I would recomend it to everyone.
