Bought 3 of these netbooks for the business from [local retailer]. They all work great with Vista, and Vista 64-Bit runs fine on them also. I'm glad Gateway choose to run with an AMD 64-Bit processor.

Don't let anyone fool you, this is [not] a laptop replacement. If you plan on doing anything besides typing papers, using the internet, and light media use, this is not the laptop for you. If you are looking for something small and light but with a full-sized keyboard and HD screen, then this is the best available (especially for the price.) It is not very good at handling intensive applications at once, but listening to music while browsing or typing is no issue. Start-up time for default Vista is about 1:30 after removing all the bloatware, and XP and 7 fall below that. Windows 7 64bit will bring out the full potential of this netbook, so if possible load that onto it as the experience is much more pleasant. Overall though, if you know what you are in the market for and this sounds like it fits, you will hardly be disappointed.

demo unit in the store ran very fast. I was also very impressed by the specifications compared to the atom processor, and bright beautiful display. After a plethora of updates Windows slowed to a crawl.I have no software installed other than McAfee and Firefox. It takes an unacceptable amount of time to boot and once booted I get frequent crashes and hangups from the operating system. This would be a great system if it came with XP instead of Vista. I am counting the days until Windows 7 release in hopes that the system will become stable. I also have an EEPC which runs much faster and is much more stable than this system. I could not recommend this to a friend with the Vista OS.

I regret buying this machine. I have had it for 3 months now. Vista runs very slow on this machine. I timed the boot up with a stopwatch once and it took 12 minutes to completely boot up. I plan on putting this netbook on ebay shortly and buying a [competitor brand].(I realize there is quite the cost difference, but it is worth it) This machine has problems running the simplest of programs. The only thing I like about it is the size is nice and the battery life is very good. Dont waste your time with this thing, it will dissapoint you.

I bought this LT3103u for college. I also bought it for a few of the games I play. When I was first looking at notebooks i went to the stores and tested the intell's and i wasnt very happy with their performance not their video capability. In the past i have been an amd fan and now amd owns ati. so the lt3103u was a match maid in heaven. theres tons of hard drive space, more than enough ram, nice wireless card built in and i have to say this is the finest system ive ever owned. thank you gateway, your friend for life Gibson

Forget the netbook moniker. This unit beats those with the Atom processor hands down. I use it on the road as a replacement for my powerhouse [competitor model] laptop. The Lt3103 performs admirably. Granted it takes a little more time and might not be as nice as using the bigger laptop for some functions but in a pinch I can run my business with this unit although not as well as I can with the full size laptop, but the portability is a definite plus. I can use it through the VPN and everything works fine. Can't wait to put Win7 on it at 64 bit. Great unit and can handle most day to business function. Not for major graphics manipulation but MS Office and other programs work well. Webcam is adaquate but slow.

I'm loving this netbook. I truly believe this is the best netbook for your money at this time. Also your only choice if you need to run 64bit programs.

I have had this netbook for 3 weeks and I love it. I read numerous reviews online and shopped around checking out different netbooks, then Gateway released this model. The 11.6" inch screen and the additional memory make this netbook superior to others. I also liked that you can upgrade the hardware on this netbook by just flipping it over and opening a compartment unlike other brands where you have to pull out the keyboard and dismantle the netbook. It is light enough for travel yet the size is perfect for daily use. I highly recommend this netbook. Do not take into account reviews that give a negative rating when the writer of the review did not purchase the computer and at least try it out.

Some people may be thinking that this PC is really just a toy computer, good for only e-mail and is comprised of only compromises. That could not be further from the truth. The original reason I bought an LT3103 was simply that I needed a PC to hold me over for a few days while my corporate-issued notebook was being repaired. I never cared for the company machine, anyway, with its 17" screen and very heavy components. Frankly, I hated to lug it around. Now that I''ve got this beauty, though, I''ve found it''s powerful enough to do anything my older PCs could, and then some. I a MUCH more likely to actually USE my LT3103 because it''s so transportable, boots quickly and fits my mobile lifestyle perfectly. This PC is NOT a compromise, it''s a definite step UP!

I have been using my LT3103u now for about 2 weeks. I'm dual booting the standard Vista Home Basic and Windows 7 beta. As others have noted, Windows 7 makes a big difference in performance if you are trying to do something like view HD videos. I get smooth playback of the 1280 X 720 HD sample file (Wildlife) in Windows 7 as long as I use the Windows Media Player. With Vista, playback is not quite as smooth. However, usability with Vista is excellent for typical netbook applications. Overall build quality, keyboard, and very nice video display are other strong points. For some applications, the 5-hour battery life may be a detractor.
