I got this computer on my birthday. Aug 14,2009. I got it right when it came out and it still work. I have not had no problems with it so far and I wish I wont. why I gave this computer a 5 star is because the touch pad really helps me out I am on this computer 24-7 and it has not froze or nothing it is a great laptop... and I recommend this to u. the price for this laptop is great. this is my 2ed laptop I had my other one for 3 years and it broke it was not gateway so dont worry.

My son purchased his first laptop with the money he had saved and received for his 10th birthday; he selected the Gateway NV5214 (with my help unfortunately) and made his purchase. The laptop is now ~90 days old and will no longer turn on. Nothing... [edited-language] What a disappointment.... For my son and I both. Based on my experience with this product and the companies warranty polies I would not recommend a Gateway product to anyone.

I havent even had this laptop a week, and I'm not liking it. everytime I use a mouse plugged into a usb port this thing freezes and I have to reboot it. I'm returning it to the store and getting another brand

This is a nice computer for the money. It packs a lot of features into an affordable laptop. The touchpad isn't as great as some I've used; it seems to have a mind of it's own sometimes and behaves erratically. I uninstalled the touchpad driver and reinstalled ALPS touchpad driver from Gateway's website and it has seemed to help. As for ZRCIC's request for the "P" on the capacitive touch launch key, this feature can be programmed by launch manager. Go to windows key (lower left area of keyboard) and enter launch manager into the search window. It should appear and you can add, remove, and assign many different things to the "P" touch key. Hope this helps.

Screen goes blank all the time. Read the reviews at [online retailer]. Seems there are a huge number of these things where the screen goes blank while using it and you have to reboot every hour or so. Thing is also slow, for the processor and Ram, it should be a speed demon. Took mine back to [local retailer] for a refund.

I for one have one thing to say about this computer, amazing. I for one am amazed at this machine, the only gripes I have about it is no expresscard slot and the power button location. One thing that most laptops have always sucked at, yet this one excels at is the speakers, they sound amazing and can get extremely loud, when wearing headphones I have the volume set to 6(out of 100) and it is quite loud and that makes watching DVD's with others much more enjoyable when all you have is your laptop, don't get me wrong though I have been a loyal [competitor brand] user for years and the only reason I got this was because [local retailer] didn't have the [competitor brand] I wanted and this one had pretty much the same specs, if you do get one of these you will enjoy it

This computer has been one of the best laptops around [edited-price]. I got it a last weekend and i have to say it is genarraly awesome,Good Graphics Not the best you can get around 90FPS on many games wich is really good, Good for school stuff like projects and also its good for watching movies. Also it is a good commputer to edit videos with At startup it runs slow but its a minor flaw, other than that it runs really fast the screen is amazing quality fell in love with it amzing hd quality sound Gateway You did a good job on this computer. I totally recommend this computer!!!

Cut to the chase: Vista 64 preinstalled is unfit: blue screen of death (BSOD) numerous times with factory settings. Windows 7 RC1 32-bit has been FLAWLESS. Expect Windows 7 64-bit release to equal it. Do not run native Vista—Windows 7 makes this laptop sing. Build quality: Excellent, though as reviewed battery life is nothing to rave about. LED screen is brilliant. Keyboard is adequate. Touchpad acceptable. Weight surprisingly light. Sound is within expectations, though much better if connected to external speakers. Everything about this laptop defies its low cost. Run, don't walk, and snap up this gem before someone figures out they can sell it for more! Even if you have to let it sit until Windows 7 upgrade disk arrives, best to have it now!

This is my first laptop. Checkd out various brands/models but loved all the features of this machine and the price couldn't be beat. It's fast, keys are large and easy to read, numeric keypad a definite + and the screen is lit up great. I can use this machine without my glasses. Would have been nice it it had Bluetooth but I can add on at another time. I set it up with a wireless modem and I can take it around my house with no problem. I can even print wirelessly too. Only issue is the cursor has a tendency to jump around and sometimes hard to get it back to where I want it. Maybe [edit-language] a new driver or download [would] improve this. Otherwise it is a great machine especially for the price. I definitely would recommend it.

Well my dad got me this laptop about 3 weeks ago... and well i love this laptop!! It has everything Ive ever wanted in a computer! =] the only complain that I have is that the touch pad does freeze up sometimes and the boot time is kinda slow, but everything is excellent!!! Its the best computer ive owned! also Ive never owned any other brand of computer then gateway... =] I love gateways! =] I also have a pc at home and Ive had it for 5 years and still works great!! thats why I love gateway, so yeah!! I definitely recommend people getting this laptop!! Its possibly the best computer right now... =]
